Nova Ortho-Med, Inc. was started in 1993 by Sue Chen, the daughter of Dr. Bruce Chen. The company started with just three employees in a small 4,000 square foot, one dock high building in El Segundo, CA. Rolling Walkers or "Rollators" became Nova's niche product. Nova pioneered the demand of this product through referral sources such as rehab departments, doctors and caregivers. Although sales started slowly, the demand for the product began to grow. Nova offered the unique rolling walker line with other products such as canes, crutches, standards walkers, wheelchairs and bathroom safety equipment to offer a full product offering.
